Our Policies
Our lodging rates are quoted for two guests with exception of the Edisto Suite where 4 guests are allowed. Rates vary depending on the day of the week and the month of the year and may change prior to booking. South Carolina sales tax of 8% and lodging tax of 3% are added to all room rates.
Additional Guests:
Room rates are quoted for two guests with exception of the Suite #1 where 4 guests are allowed. Due to the fire safety codes and maximum occupancy limitations, if you make a reservation online for two guests, and arrive with additional guests, we may turn you away and you will forfeit any refund for your reservation.
Room Occupancy and Taxes
We require a minimum two-night reservation for all weekends except for holidays and special event weekends where three nights may be required.
Minimum Stay Requirements
At time of reservation, a one night deposit or 50% deposit for stays spanning multiple nights is charged to the provided card. If booking 14 days or less prior to arrival, the total amount will be collected including items and taxes. Balances are charged automatically to the card on file 14 days prior to your scheduled arrival.
Deposits and Balance Payments
We gladly accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express as valid payment methods, and it is essential for us to maintain an up-to-date credit card number on file for all reservations. Please note that gift certificates are recognized as a valid form of payment. If you possess a gift certificate, we kindly ask you to contact the inn by calling 843-757-6777 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST to make your reservation.

Please confirm a specific arrival time via email if possible or respond to the reminder email 48 priors to arrival. If you plan on arriving after 7 p.m., please call 843-757-6777 in advance for special arrangements. All guests must check-out by 11:00 on the day of departure. If you require an early or a late check-in, please inquire with Guest Services.
Arrival and Departure Times
May River Manor is an exclusively adult-oriented property, welcoming guests aged 16 and older when accompanied by an adult with a confirmed lodging reservation. This policy also applies to local residents visiting our property. However, we are open to considering exceptions for group bookings associated with celebratory events. Please feel free to inquire about such arrangements, and we will do our best to accommodate your specific needs.
Children
While we love pets, we cannot accommodate them at the Manor. Please inquire with Guest Services for boarding assistance! Only service animals as defined under the ADA are permitted and must be under the owner’s control at all times. Emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals are not considered service animals under the ADA, and we do not allow these on-premises.
Pets
As a smoke-free property, we strictly prohibit smoking, including the use of cigarettes, cigars, and vaping, within the rooms, on room balconies or patios. Any violation of this policy will result in a $500 cleaning fee being applied to your bill, and no exceptions will be granted.
Smoking may only be permitted within our designated outdoor pool area. We kindly request that you dispose of any unused smoking materials exclusively in the outdoor smoker's bin for the safety of our property and its natural surroundings. Please refrain from discarding them on the grass or in the gardens. Your cooperation in maintaining our smoke-free environment is greatly appreciated.
No Open Flame - No Smoking
At May River Manor, we truly value each guest’s reservation and aim to provide the best experience possible. If you find it necessary to modify or cancel your reservation, please keep the following policies in mind:

Cancellations: Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to your scheduled arrival are subject to a $50 per room and per day fee deducted from the initial deposit.

For reservations canceled 30-15 days prior to your scheduled arrival date, we will transfer your deposit, less a $50 per room and per day cancellation fee, to a gift certificate valid for one year.

Late Cancellations: For reservations canceled 15 days or less prior to your scheduled arrival date, you will still be responsible for all charges unless we fully rebook your stay. If we can rebook your stay we will issue a gift certificate less the cancellation fee of $50 per room and day.

Shortened Stays: If you decide to shorten your stay within 14 days of your planned arrival, you will still be responsible for all charges based on the originally reserved rate for all canceled nights.

Third-party Booking Websites: If you made your reservation through a third-party website, the reservation is nonrefundable/non-changeable.

Group Bookings: Any cancellations for Buy Outs of all our 5 rooms (whether made in 1 transaction or 5 separate transactions) must be made 45 days prior to arrival and are subject to a cancellation fee of 20% of the total booking. Please note that our cancellation and modification policies may vary for group reservations, depending on the length of stay and the nature of the event. Feel free to reach out to us directly for more information on our group reservation policies.
Cancellations on any promotions will transfer to a Gift Certificate valid for a year from issuance. No refunds on promotions. Promotions only apply to new bookings and will not apply to Gift Certificates issued prior to the start of promotion.
Please note that while gift certificates may be applied to a new booking, the rates may change and there may be a balance due. We will transfer bookings to a gift certificate for a maximum of 2 times after which it is subject to 100% penalty including tax.
We understand that unexpected emergencies can arise, potentially affecting your reservation. For added peace of mind, we recommend considering the purchase of trip insurance. We suggest exploring options such as Allianz Travel Insurance or Travelinsurance.com to help safeguard your plans.
Cancellation Policy
You may be held responsible for any missing or damaged items, and be required to pay for their repairs or replacement. This is at the discretion of the inn manager and will be charged to your credit card with advance notice.
Damage/Loss/Theft
Onsite parking is complimentary, for one car per room. We do offer electric charging stations for overnight guests only. We are not responsible for your car and its contents.
Parking
